Serena Williams’ Message to Moms

Serena Williams is trailblazing and being Upspoken about her experience making a comeback in tennis while also being a mom to her daughter Alexis Olympia. From her birthing experience, to being a world class athlete and now a mom, Serena is sharing both the highs and the lows. After a traumatic childbirth experience last year, Williams has been battling postpartum depression. Recently, she posted a message on her Instagram opening up about her motherhood struggles and reminding the mothers out there that they are “true heroes.” 😍

Last week Serena graced the cover of TIME Magazine, sharing her story of motherhood with the world. She opened up about life as a tennis legend and a mother, becoming an upspoken voice for mommies everywhere.

Last month, she went to Wimbledon but lost. Yet, mothers everywhere, all around the world cheered her on. And Serena said she was playing for them! “I dedicated that to all the moms out there who’ve been through a lot,” she said in the TIME interview. “Some days, I cry. I’m really sad. I’ve had meltdowns. It’s been a really tough 11 months. If I can do it, you guys can do it too.”

So, we just want to say thank you to Serena; for her honesty and for sharing her experience of motherhood with us all. She is using her platform to push forward a conversation about motherhood where she doesn’t only highlight her best experiences but shares with us the complete picture. By being upspoken about her experience she is helping women who are going through the same thing. And Serena is letting the moms everywhere know that she is just like them!
